I'm Back

Oh hai.

I've been a tad neglectful of this blog over the past, oh, year and a half, but there is an explanation. Beyond laziness. I promise.

When we last met, I had posted a triumphant (wordless) post marking my return to my home and native land. I landed in Toronto from Reykjavik, visited friends, flew to Winnipeg, and reunited with my family after eleven long months. We drove back to British Columbia, and from there I settled down. Got a job. Two jobs, actually, with a couple of switches here and there. Volunteered. Applied to graduate school. Slowly went crazy.

You see, I am not a small-town person, and after having been unleashed upon the world, being back home took its toll. I wanted to get out. I needed to escape. I spent a year trying to achieve a new adventure, of any kind.

Now I'm in Toronto, studying for my MA, and much happier. There are a lot of opportunities for travel coming up. And besides that, Toronto is a terrific city if you're looking for more than general Canadian blandness.

Why didn't I post? In short, this is a travel blog, and I didn't travel. I took a couple of trips around BC and Alberta, and a quick overnight into Washington State. B-O-R-I-N-G, at least to a lifelong British Columbian. And after the year I had. It was very claustrophobic.

Now, though, I've got a better chance at seeing the world. I am going to Finland and Sweden - again - in January. Something I never thought I would do again. Something I ached for, every day since I came home. And I am doing it. I can hardly believe it. And I might be travelling even more once this is over. So I decided to restart this. We'll see how it goes.

I'm okay. I'm seeing the world. I'm moving ahead.

And you, my friends, will be travelling right along with me.
